Formerly known as enterprise edition, Magento 1 undoubtedly had been the first preference of digital entrepreneurs across the globe. However, the primary reason behind unprecedented adoption and growth of digital commerce is innovation. Having said this, how the leading eCommerce platform could stay behind.
Adhering to the same Magento launched version 2.0 enterprise edition in the year 2015. Since then, it launched new upgrades to the version back to back. However, it was 2017 meet Magento conference in Prague, where we got the first hint of the end of support for Magento 1.

It was later that the company announced Magento 1 End of Life by June 2020. However, till date, it’s still not completely clear to many as in what end of life really means? Reason being;

  • If Magento 1 would have been a web application it’ll mean that the servers will be turned off.
  • If it was a software application, which gets updated on a regular basis. Possibly the updates will be stopped.

Well, in this case, Magento 1 end of life implies the end of security patches, support, upgrades and other crucial elements that help you run your digital commerce and submit security-related audits.

Innovation is the major driver of the eCommerce storm. While Magento is closing support doors for its first version, the platform users are now in a state of a muddle, as to whether to migrate to some other platform or to upgrade to Magento 2. But with Magento 2 migration, you won’t just be relishing the wide range of tools for monitoring, conversion, and analytics but will also be less prone to the threat of losing your precious data.
